Nebraska’s backbreaking third inning during Tuesday’s 13-2 loss to Wichita State again highlighted a troubling trend for the NU pitching staff this season. It started innocently enough when sophomore pitcher Jon Keller gave up a soft liner and an infield dribbler to lead off the frame. Tuesday’s ugly 13-2 loss to Wichita State was far from the effort that Nebraska had hoped for in its home season finale, but the Huskers left Haymarket Park in full control of their postseason fate. That’s what matters most to NU in late May. Against the Shockers Tuesday night, Nebraska pitchers gave up more runs (13) and home runs (three) than any other game this year.
