Huskers get commitment from Ohio tight end Hart
Dayton (Ohio) Alter tight end Greg Hart has committed to Nebraska, choosing the Huskers over his other finalist, Northwestern. “I was really comfortable with it,” Hart said. “I was comfortable with the people surrounding me, and I’m ready for it.” The 6-foot-5, 225-pound Hart visited Lincoln last weekend, and he also held offers from Pittsburgh, Boston College, Indiana, Louisville and others.

NU pitchers creating a mound of problems
Nebraska’s backbreaking third inning during Tuesday’s 13-2 loss to Wichita State again highlighted a troubling trend for the NU pitching staff this season. It started innocently enough when sophomore pitcher Jon Keller gave up a soft liner and an infield dribbler to lead off the frame. The right-hander even recorded the second out by striking out the Shockers’ three-hole hitter.

Three former Huskers passed over for Hall of Fame
Tommie Frazier took the news in stride Tuesday when his name wasn't called for the 2012 class selected for induction into the College Football Hall of Fame. Maybe next year, the former Nebraska quarterback said on Twitter. “We'll have our time,” Frazier said, including former NU quarterback Eric Crouch in his statement.

Miles: Petteway a 'dynamic' player
Nebraska basketball coach Tim Miles’ stable of players for the future is getting larger. NU officially announced Tuesday the transfer of Terran Petteway, formerly of Texas Tech and a highly regarded high school player at Galveston (Texas) Ball High School in 2010-11. Petteway will be eligible at NU beginning with the 2013-14 season.

Dennard waives preliminary hearing
Former Nebraska cornerback Alfonzo Dennard will be arraigned May 30 in Lancaster County District Court on a charge of third-degree felony assault of a police officer. The New England Patriots seventh-round draft pick waived his right to a preliminary hearing Tuesday. He remains free on a $5,000 bond.

Wichita State blasts Huskers
Tuesday’s ugly 13-2 loss to Wichita State was far from the effort that Nebraska had hoped for in its home season finale, but the Huskers left Haymarket Park in full control of their postseason fate. That’s what matters most to NU in late May. Against the Shockers Tuesday night, Nebraska pitchers gave up more runs (13) and home runs (three) than any other game this year.

Future for NU-CU series in doubt
A contrast in scheduling philosophy will break a string of meetings between Nebraska’s top two college volleyball programs this fall. For the first time since 2003, Nebraska and Creighton are not scheduled to play one another, and it is not clear if there are plans to resume the series in the near future.

Ex-St. Louis coach joins Husker staff
Former St. Louis women’s head basketball coach Shimmy Gray-Miller has been hired as an assistant at Nebraska. Nebraska coach Connie Yori announced Tuesday that Gray-Miller would replace Kellie Lewis-Jay, who left to become head coach at Florida Atlantic. Gray-Miller was fired in March after the Billikens went 11-12. They were 71-136 in Gray-Miller’s seven years at the school.

Huskers get Wake Forest in ACC/Big Ten Challenge
Nebraska will play at Wake Forest and Iowa will play at Virginia Tech as part of next season’s ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Both games will be on Nov. 27. Nebraska will try to avenge last season’s 55-53 loss to Wake Forest in Lincoln, while Iowa lost its ACC/Big Ten Challenge game a year ago at home to Clemson, 71-55.
